Planes, Trains, and Automobiles – Out of State Recruitment Efforts

Spring is among my favorite times in Admissions because it means that we are hitting the road again and getting to meet great students and potential future Ospreys! It is a really exciting time for travel as many of our efforts are focused beyond the borders of Florida. We go all over the country to speak with high school students about all the benefits of a UNF college experience, and those of you that have gotten to visit campus know there are quite a few!

Recently, I got to take a whirlwind trip up to the Northeast visiting New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts over the period of two weeks.  Traveling on planes, trains, and automobiles with thousands of UNF publications in tow, the trip was extensive and fantastic.  As a girl that was born and raised in New Jersey, went to college in Pennsylvania, and lived in New York post-college, it was great to be back among my old haunts. There’s something about the hustle and bustle of the Northeast that just fills me with energy, and that is a good thing because I had A LOT of talented students to speak with at college fairs!

The greatest thing about college fairs is that they give students the chance to learn about all of the options and opportunities awaiting them. It is such an exciting time for high school students as they are on the cusp of this new adventure, and, as admissions counselors, we are so lucky to get to be a part of it and assist with the process. The students I spoke with were happy to find that UNF is a destination to try something and somewhere new to them. It is a place where they can extend outside of their comfort zone a bit, and they can still have access to great programs, plenty of educational and social opportunities, and personal attention.  Of course, the beach location doesn’t hurt 😉

So to the out-of-staters out there, I know that we really enjoy visiting you in your neck of the woods, and we are looking forward to you coming to see us in ours!
